VOCABULARY WORD NO. 18

Dear Students and Blog Readers,
It is that time of the year that i dislike the most in the education system in which I work. Graduation and farewell are on the way. Next week my Third Years will be finish with school and after that they will be back for only a few days and then, if they don't pursue their tertiaru level education at night, seeing them will be minimal.

I have grown to love and care for this group because above all they became a special class of students with the programme I implemented to motivate them into being better youths, husbands, wives, adults and Belizeans. It was the easiest thing to have done and they respnded to YO PUEDO with an energy and a happiness that has left me complete. If my world were to end tomorrow, I would be happy with the knowledge that the 22 students in the class grew to love themselves, each other and the people around them with honesty and a sincere desire to be more than just an averge person. Indeed, they have proven to me that there is the possibility of good to come from programmes that are not scholastically based but which can teach us to be more than we are, to be better than average, to be willing to help others and to yearn for more.

Thrid Years, remember that you can be all you want to be,. You can achieve anyhing you set your mind to. You just have to remember the two little words that can take you to the heights of your success - YO PUEDO -- I CAN. Once you realize that YOU CAN do anything you set your heart to, you will be able to attain your goals and achieve all that you set out to achieve.

Before I close don't forget to look at the word below. It's just another word to add to those you are learning.

The time is fast approaching when our lives will be changed forever. Be prepared for the many obstacles and hardships that come with change. Look them straight in the face and you will be able to overcome them. Talk your problems over with someone you can really trust and who trusts you. Eventually you will see that this is the theme of life. It is LIFE! So, eventually you will get use to it and life will become bearable. Just remember to have love in your hearts always and hug and kiss those around you as often as you can.

And I am sure you will not be the last,

To make me upset or to make me laugh,

But I am happy that a few of you are going off.

Rodrigo, you've come from far away each day,

To listen to what the lecturers have to say.

I wish you the best in your future endeavours,

May you see the fruit of all your late hours.

Ruben, boy, you are surely special,

Your time at school is few but you expect all,

And your lecturers shake their heads and say,

This boy is different in every way.

Rocio, the first year was spent on skipping classes

That's why you had so few passes,

But when you put your mind to it you can,

You just need to settle down and have a plan.

Neomi, are you going to surprise us soon,

Even though you're singing to a different tune.

You settled down this year without Raquel,

So for that I can now wish you well.

Maricela, they broke the mould after creating you,

You often got on my nerves saying those things you do,

But deep inside we became friends,

I can say and really mean that.
