Great Info for Wonderful People

Hi Dear Students,
It just wouldn’t be me without some good information for you. Here are three little items that are interesting (to me at least) and a vocabulary word. I think the more we know the more we are able to understand life and be successful and that is all I want for you… SUCCESS. All you have to do is remember YOU CAN be successful. YOU CAN get promoted to the next class. YOU CAN be all that you want to be and much more. You just have to believe that YOU CAN! In Spanish, dear students that is: YO PUEDO!!
Love always,
Ms. Brenda A. Ysaguirre

Where can you go to see pink elephants on parade?
Pink elephants? In regions of India where the soil is red, elephants take on a permanent pink tinge because they regularly spray dust over their bodies to protect themselves against insects. The parades are optional.

Why do Javelinas hang out together?
Javelinas are free-ranging, yet territorial animals that travel in small herds. One of the reasons they travel in numbers is so they can huddle to stay warm -- they don't handle cold well and can freeze to death quickly.

How large is Antares?
The star Antares is 60,000 times larger than our Sun. If our Sun were the size of a softball, the star Antares would be as large as a house.

Today's Word "prevaricate"
prevaricate \prih-VAIR-uh-kayt\ (intransitive verb) - To depart from or evade the truth; to speak with equivocation. "As regards your question, however, I will not prevaricate nor deceive you, but what the old man of the sea told me, so much will I tell you in full." -- Homer, 'The Odyssey' Prevaricate derives from the past participle of Latin praevaricari, "to pass in front of, or over, by straddling; to walk crookedly; to collude," from prae, "before, in front of" + varicare, "to straddle," from varicus, "straddling," from varus, "bent."
